Business of being a Notary

Suddenly there’s a lot going on. What with electronic legalisation,  the widespread commercial use of electronic signatures, the Home Office’s National Document Fraud Unit  guidance on examining identity documents, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023!  Now it’s generative artificial intelligence…

And you may be struggling with conflicts of interest, trying to balance your time, or consider that notarial work should be better integrated with solicitor’s work. Maybe you need or want to create or enhance a separate identity. Or you are interested in hearing more about how to increase turnover AND profit, attract clients and staff, how to expand operations, be more efficient, how to survive an inspection or any other aspect of the business of being a notary.

Perhaps we can help with our coaching, mentoring and consultancy services.

These services are provided by Lisa Preuveneers.  She has first-hand experience, knowledge, and insights in the business of being a notary.

Coaching is often shorter-term and may be as short as a quick 10- or 15-minute conversation.
A coach is someone who provides guidance to a client on their goals and helps them reach their full potential.

Unlike mentoring, coaching is non-directive which means that it is about posing the right questions, so the coachee can consider how they can achieve more, reach their objectives, and find capabilities within themselves.

Mentoring is likely to be more long term. A mentor is someone who shares their knowledge, skills and/or experience, to help another to develop and grow.

Typically, mentoring is less structured than coaching, although having a meeting agenda is recommended.  It will be up to the mentee to put this together.  Mentoring is mainly development driven and it is for the mentee to decide what they wish to achieve.

While the two concepts are similar, both coaching and mentoring are about helping people to get where they want to go by leveraging the experience of the coach or mentor.  The purpose of the coach is to instruct or train, while the mentor provides counsel or guidance.

A consultant is an expert who is called upon for professional or technical advice or opinions. They are relied on to understand the problem and present solutions around their area of expertise.

Management consultants look at the big picture, focusing the less quantifiable parts of the business – vision, strategic objectives, forward planning, expansion, and growth.
